The Covid-19 Pandemic Has Disrupted Every Aspect Of Our Lives
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted every aspect of our lives. Even before the onset of the crisis, the social and economic integration of young people was an ongoing challenge. Now, unless urgent action is taken, young people are likely to suffer severe and long-lasting impacts from the pandemic.
Casimiro Global Foundation has dedicated time assessing how the 2020 pandemic has systemically and disproportionately impacted the lives of young people. It has been particularly hard on young women, younger youth and youth in lower – income countries. We are very concerned about the future youth will be facing.
According an International Labour Organization and United Nations Human Rights study (Youth and COVID-19, 2020), 83% of youth around the world experienced school closures. COVID-19 has left one in eight young people (13%) without any access to online courses, teaching or training. In this same study, 65% of young people reported having learnt less since the pandemic began.
Knowing the risks facing our youth, and with a mission to create growth development experiences that empower and teach youth to become sustainable while bringing value to the world, we are driven to focus on the needs of Gen Z-ers (Pew Research Center considers people born from 1997 to 2012 as those belonging to Generation Z ) and the significant concerns and the influence they have in the world. Regardless of income and education levels, this generation continues to influence our present and future. Read on to become more familiar with who we target and some key Gen Z statistics that might influence your decision to support Casimiro Global Foundation’s mission.
